Heather Bonney — Mar 28, 2017

Recently, some of our Māori families attended a Whānau Hui held at school. This was a very positive evening where families who identify as Māori had an opportunity to meet one another and for us to have a discussion about the direction of our school.

Earlier this month some of our families got together for our Whānau Hui to talk about the things that have taken place in our school over the last year and to share new ideas.

Some great ideas that were shared at the Hui were to create our own Wakari School Haka, and to start a tradition of celebrating Matariki at our school.  We will keep you updated as these great ideas gather momentum.

Thank you again to those families who were able to come along to our Whānau Hui last term, and also to those families who gave feedback on things happening at our school.

Our Principal Chris Smith, Board of Trustees Member Duncan Trickey, Community Representative Rebecca Swindells, and Teacher Heather Bonney also attended the Hui.
