Spring has Sprung

Chris Smith —

What a difference the sun makes. We have been lucky that through our latest lockdown the weather generally has allowed children and adults to get out together to exercise locally.

It has been neat to welcome back all of the children this morning. As a staff, we are looking to hit the ground running and get straight back into programmes to give children the feeling of normality returning. Staff will spend some time debriefing around lockdown and discussing the requirements of Alert Level 2 also.

My thanks to you all for the way you transitioned to Alert Level 4, reminding ourselves how to get onto a Zoom, persevering with learning @ home and the smiley faces that greeted staff as we delivered devices and learning packs.

Well done to the staff of Wakari for your ability to pivot from the classroom to the home and the energy and commitment you continue to show to the Wakari community. A massive thanks to our whanau who are essential workers that kept the country afloat during Alert Levels 4 and 3.

We want school to be as normal as possible for your tamariki and we will continue to follow advice from the Ministries of Education and Health. They will guide us and other organisations as we see how the remainder of Alert Level 2 plays out. Events will be impacted and we will notify those involved as soon as we hear from the powers that be.

My thoughts are with the Home and School committee who had to make the tricky but correct decision to cancel the Fair planned for September 19. I know that they are already working at salvaging something from all of the donated goods collected, so watch this space.

Please do adhere to the guidelines we distribute and if you have any concerns do make contact.

Kind regards

Chris
