Year 5s have an amazing time at camp.

Caroline Brown —

Year 5 camp at Waiora was a blast despite the weather. Here's what we thought about it.

At year five camp it was wet but we still did the activities. My favourite was air rifles and archery. I hit a bullseye in air rifles and in archery I got hit by an arrow. In my bunk room was Flynn,Danny and Tom and in the other room was Tommy, Finn and Felipe. At bunk room inspections we mopped and vacuumed and we did silly dances.           By Tristin

At camp on the first day me and Tyler were camp buddies. My favourite activity was air rifles and archery. I hit the target 0 times on both of the activities. On the first day we did abseiling. There were 3 levels to it, level 1 2 and 3 (level 3 was the real one) level one was easy, level 2 a bit too easy and level 3 was a big drop (a bit like a cliff) We only got to do level 3 once and we got to do the other levels as many times as we wanted.                      By Kyle

At year 5 amp we did a whole variety of things like:

Abseiling

Archery

Camp fire

Air rifles

Bunk room inspections

The nature trail

Recreation time

At camp we also had Duties like:

Bathrooms

Vegetables

Dishies

Dining room .

My favorite part was going Abseiling because I’ve never done it

Before we had to go down FIFTEEN METERS it is equivalent to a FIVE STOREY HOUSE it was scary at first but fun at the same time.

My second favouriTe thing was going to the campfire

IT was awesome.

Thank you teachers, parents , Neil and the Scouts .

It was awesome .             By Asher

Camp was so fun. It rained some of the time so we played the sock game, which is where you and your parent have a sock each and have to try and get the sock of each other's foot. I did it with my mum, but she won. We also played a balloon game. I did not win though. Mitchell’s Cottage was a cottage at camp with a scary story behind it. We took a photo in it. We also went to ElmGrove School swimming pool where we made a massive whirlpool.        By Ruby

When we arrived at camp we got off the bus and we unpacked it. Later the boys took their bags up to our chalets. Later we walked down to the field to line up for morning tea. After that we went on the orientation walk around the camp and saw the swimming area. At that point it started to hail but it stopped quickly. Then we ate lunch. We had lunch from home. After that we got into our first activities. For the Trailblazers (my group) the first activity was the boring nature trail. We had to cross through a cold river. The next activity was the confidence course. There were 14 obstacles and my fastest time was 1 min 46 secs. The hardest obstacle was the tyres we had to swing on to get to the next obstacle. Then we had afternoon tea. We played some games on the field and then it was time for dinner. It was sausages for dinner. We did a murder mystery game also. Later we went to bed. The next morning we got up and Trailblazers had to do vegetables. After that we had breakfast. A short time after that the Trailblazers went to abseiling. There were 3 levels - easy, medium and hard. I got up to level 3. It was 15 metres straight down. Later the Trailblazers got their morning tea. A bit later we ate lunch. Then the year fives split into 2 groups. The group I was in went to the Taieri Historical Park first and then the Elmgrove school swimming pool. When we got back we played on the field for a bit and later we had meatloaf for dinner. Later we went to bed. The next day we started to get packed up. After breakfast we walked up a steep hill and I basically slid straight back down. A bit later we packed the bus to leave camp.        By Jack S.

Year 5 camp was probably one of the most fun things I've ever done. My favourite activity was abseiling, which is where you scale down a cliff. the food on the first night was probably my favourite but I also liked the meatloaf. I would definitely recommend going to camp. I also recommend bringing insect repellent. I’m looking forward to year 6 camp already!                    By Felipe

My favourite activity was probably abseiling because of the massive level four the boss drop, it was pretty far down. My favourite food was the 10/10 meatloaf. Some of the activities when you go to Year five camp will be abseiling, confidence course, archery, air rifles and much more, some of those activities I will get to do again for Year 6 camp.       By Jacob

My favourite bit about was camp was going abseiling. We had to put harnesses and helmets on. It was scary at first Then you got used to the harness. There were two different tracks to practice on. The first track was the easiest. The second track was a bit harder. The third track you went down the Cliff. I am proud of myself for doing it.                       By Annabelle
