Welcome everyone to a new year at Wakari School and a special welcome to those families joining us for the very first time.

It has been great to start the year with the same amazing staff team that we have had for the last two years. We are so lucky to have them all and the children can only benefit from such consistency. We have had some changes at Board level though as we farewelled Board Chair, Beth Chisholm and long-serving Board member, David Irvine. They have both made a significant contribution to Wakari School over a number of years and will be missed.

We have exciting developments to look forward to on the property front. The new classroom block will be going out to tender at the end of February and late last year a project to install a lift in the main block was approved. This will ensure that all our learners will have convenient access to every classroom.

Just a quick note about myself. I am married to Jared and work part-time at the University of Otago. We have four children who have all attended Wakari School so I know first-hand what a great community this is. I have been on the Board since 2017 and was the Deputy Chair last year.
