Term 2 up and running

Chris Smith —

Welcome to the first of our cooler terms, supposedly.

I know by writing about how great the weather has been I am opening up myself to a tirade as it turns decidedly cooler following the publishing of this Newsletter. It has been a lovely Autumn thus far and the children have returned to school invigorated after our holiday break.

As we would hope there will be plenty happening for our pupils across the next 10 weeks. Keep an eye on your child's Seesaw account, Newsletters, Facebook, the School Google Calendar, the School App and Website to keep abreast of what is upcoming for our learners.

Thanks to those whanau that have encouraged their tamariki to pick up a winter sport. On top of what is offered by our neighbouring winter clubs we still would like our pupils to be involved in sporting activities during the week. We, along with some pupils, were disappointed that we did not have enough children in some of the sports to field teams from Wakari. With some recent initiatives we are undertaking as a School we hope to be able to offer at least some tasters of different sports for our young athletes.

The new build process is in the final permission stage with our Ministry of Education. The Board has gone through the tender process and once the final sign from the MoE is forthcoming we will look to get a timeline established with our building firm. There will be some implications around the use of the field but we are sure that with the cooperation of all involved the kids will still be able to get up on the grass to kick a ball around.

The roading modifications have been completed with relatively little drama and the changes have been positively received by our community. I was especially grateful that the School crossings were completed during the recent holiday break. Thank you for your patience during the upgrade.

If I can be of assistance please do make contact.

Regards Chris
