Cooking:

For Friday project in Room 2 we are doing cooking. The cooking group has 18 kids. So far we have cooked eggs, pizza, soup, scones. This Friday we will be making macaroni cheese. We had to pass food licence number 1. We also made a learning journal and kitchen safety poster.

Woodwork:

At Woodwork we have learnt different techniques to make it easier to use the different tools. We started off making cardboard boats and practicing basic skills like sawing and hammering. Then we started making wooden boats we had to measure the wood, then saw it then we sanded the edges. We also had to cut the mast and drill a hole for the mast to go into. We also made pencil holders. We had to do a lot of sanding to make it smooth then we drew a pattern and hot pokered it on and drilled holes for the pencils to go into. During one session we learnt how to use a chisel. We learnt not to put your hand in front of the chisel. We also used some planks to make some signs we chiseled or hot pokered different things into the planks we also drilled holes into the planks so we could put string through them and hang up the signs. Woodwork is really fun.

Architecture:

My Friday project is Architecture in Mrs Brown's class. We design our dream houses on a app called Sketch Up. A couple of weeks before we went on a field trip to lots of buildings that were in construction it was really cool and exciting. On the way back to school the architect, (Cam) stopped at the bakery and bought us all a massive brownie each then we went back to school and carried on with our dream houses. By the end of week I think we will have some awesome houses made on Sketch Up and then next term we get to pick a completely new project like wood work ,engines, robotics, music, dance, cooking and stuff like that.

Engines:

In Engines we learn about how engines work and their purpose. It is really fascinating and enjoyable. We take apart engines and look at all the different parts. We look at computers, bikes, car parts. We have also made a salt-water car. We had a look at how a gear box works. 

We also went up to the Caltex garage to have a look at cars to see how a car engine works. We found out how a piston works and what its used for. I chose Engines because I thought it would be a lot of fun. My favourite part about engines is pulling them apart and making new ones.
