Wakari School's Walking Time Zone Map
Last year the Senior Syndicate took part in creating a walking zone time map with the DCC, check out the amazing finished product!
Wakari School recently received the finished product of our Walking Time Zone Maps. These maps were created using data obtained by the Senior Syndicate showing approximately how long it takes to walk from different areas of our neighbour hood.
This is a fantastic resource for us to use to encourage walking to school and help to reduce the school community's carbon footprint.
We have a 5 minute zone which is indicated in green, a 10 minute zone indicated in blue and a 15 minute zone indicated in pink.
You may notice Scout, the walk to school mascot at a few of the points on the map! These are the safe drop off points where instead of dropping a child outside the gate, they can be dropped at the Scout Spot and make their way to school. This will also work for pick up times!
The maps have been shared out to classes and we have one also conveniently placed in the school notice board outside the office.
A huge thank you to Kerri MacLennan from the DCC for all of her support with this project.
