Buck Institute for Education is heading to the Hills Cluster

Chris Smith —

Professional Development for our Teachers is key to improving outcomes for our Learners.

As part of the Hills Cluster Initiative we are thrilled to be able to bring an expert from the US to spend three days upskilling a number of teachers from across the cluster in Project Based Learning (PBL).

The expert comes from the Buck Institute of Education which is a world leader in PBL initiatives. Project Based Learning encourages our young people to work on authentic, meaningful projects that engage them in solving real-world problems. They demonstrate their skills by connecting with real audiences such as the school or wider community. As a result, students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills. This three day workshop will support teachers in using a PBL lens for their teaching practice. We are very grateful to the Otago Community Trust who have supported us in funding this visit.
