The Arts show the way this term

Chris Smith —

140 Wakari tamariki graced the stage at the recent Polyfest and had a ball.

Great to see so many parents supporting our performing arts efforts over the last weeks. The Senior production, the Kapahaka group, and the Junior dance evening have all been supported both through preparation and attendance. It gives me a real buzz to see our kids stepping out of comfort zones and giving such opportunities a go.

This week  our Museum sleepover is happening for our Year 4 students. This is the first step in the progression of our EOTC events that see children attending a 3 day camp in Year 5 and a full week in Year 6.

Thanks to those who attended the One Day Wananga on Saturday. A range of Maori arts and culture were shared and explored and the relaxed nature of the day really impressed me.

The Personnel (Board of Trustees)and Management team have been busy over the last couple of months with staff appointments. With some changes happening earlier in the year we have had a strategic review of structures and have gone through several appointment processes.  Congratulations to the following teachers who will take up their positions in 2017;

  • Mrs. Caroline Brown has been appointed as Senior Syndicate Leader.
  • Mrs. Lisa Lowden has been appointed as Middle Syndicate Leader
  • Mrs. Katy Fitzgerald has been appointed on a permanent basis in the Senior Syndicate
  • Mrs. Anna Ollerenshaw has been appointed on a permanent basis in the Middle Syndicate
  • Miss Deborah Storer has been appointed on a permanent basis in the Junior Syndicate
  • Miss Shaun Robinson has been appointed on a one-year contract to the Senior Syndicate
  • Miss Chloe Barton has been appointed on a one-year contract to the Middle Syndicate

I congratulate all of those that have been successful.

Have a relaxing and enjoyable couple of weeks with the children and we all look forward to the sun shining for term 4 which starts on Monday 10th October.

Kind Regards

Chris Smith
