Whānau Wānanga (Family Day/Workshop) at Wakari School!

Heather Bonney —

In a week and a half (Saturday, November 5th) we will be hosting a Whānau Wānanga (family/day workshop) at our school to give our families the opportunity to experience some of our beautiful Māori arts - such as poi, harakeke (flax weaving), whakairo (carving)...and more!

Our Whānau Wānanga (family workshop) is a chance for us in the Wakari School Community to celebrate and experience some of our Māori arts. Please join us for a fun and interactive day!

WHERE? At the Wakari School Hall

WHAT? We will have a selection of Māori Arts activities for families to come along and experience: Harekeke (Flax Weaving), Poi, Rākau (stick games/songs), Kowhaiwhai symbols and patterns, Whakairo (carving - in Oamaru stone), and more!

If you have an area of interest or expertise and can help us out on the day, please get in contact with Heather Bonney in Room 12 (hbonney@wakari.school.nz), we would love your support!
