Welcome to Term 4

Chris Smith —

We are off to a flying start with lots happening for teachers and students.

I hope your time with your children over the holidays was an enjoyable one and one where the kids had some time to recharge the batteries before launching into the last block of 2015.

With lots happening in and around the classes please try to keep abreast of goings on. Our newsletter, Facebook pages, Twitter and notices home are crucial for the fluidity of this term.

Welcome to the four University of Otago College of Education Student Teachers in the school for a three week practicum. We wish you all the best for your time at Wakari.

2016 Planning

Planning for classes for the 2016 school year will begin shortly. Parents are welcome to speak with Syndicate Leaders if they have any questions about their child’s placement for the upcoming year. The Senior Syndicate will welcome Miss Shaun Robinson to the team, this will mean that the Senior Syndicate will have four classes next year. It is important to note that while we consider parent preferences, the placement of each child is based upon the needs of the children, our staffing and the class structures within the school. Please ensure that if you wish to discuss this you do so by Monday the 16th of November. The final decisions will be made by the Senior Management team. Children will be made aware which class they are in for 2016 later this term.

The Board of Trustees would like to Welcome Duncan Trickey and Beth Chisholm as newly co-opted members.

I hope you enjoy the new format for our Newsletter.

Regards Chris
