Happy, Confident Learners

Stacey Gribben —

Firstly, thank you for the support I have had from staff, tamariki, whānau and the whole school community, welcoming me to my new role as Acting Principal. I feel very privileged to be taking on this responsibility and am enjoying the challenge.

Tamariki have settled well to school routines. I have been so impressed with their enthusiasm for learning, their friendliness and lovely manners.

The year 6 camp was held in week 2 and was an outstanding success with lots of new learning, challenges faced and conquered and a huge amount of fun. Thanks to the staff and  parents that attended. You all worked very hard to ensure that tamariki had a great week.

Thanks also to those who have volunteered to assist with various sports teams. Teams simply can not function without adult help. Your time and effort is very much appreciated by all of those taking part.

Many of you will have seen the item on Seven Sharp featuring some Wakari School personalities. The item focussed on Wakari School because we were the first school in New Zealand to have a school road patrol. A big congratulations to everyone who featured. You represented the school superbly and we all felt very proud.

Thanks to all of you who park safely around the school. Parking and negotiating traffic around any school can be difficult, particularly so when the school is on a busy road and there is construction taking place. Wakari has all of these going on and I urge parents to desist from parking on yellow lines, or across driveways, or doing u-turns close to our pedestrian crossings.

Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on 6 & 7 March. Please ensure that you book a time through the Skool Loop App.

If I can be of assistance with any matter, feel free to contact me.
