SPCA Visit
On Wednesday 4th November, Steph from the SPCA came to talk to us about caring for our pets.
We learnt the 5 basic needs for a pet: food, water, shelter, love and exercise.
Steph told us stories about some of the animals she had rescued. The biggest animal she had rescued was an elephant.
She brought her two dogs Wilbur (11) and Tui (7). Tui was used as a fight dog but wouldn't fight, so the people locked her up to die in a shed, so the SPCA came and saved her. Wilbur got chained to a washing line without shelter or exercise so the SPCA saved him too.
Steph also saved a horse that was starving and was tied to a pole. It was so hungry you could see its ribs and spine, but a couple months later after being with the SPCA it was fit and fat.
