Room 16 gets into the Carnival spirit.

Anna Lawson —

Room 16 has been having lots of fun learning about Brazil.

Brazil is not just big cities and the Olympics.  This is what the children in Room 16 have been finding out this week.  We are lucky enough to have Felipe in our class who was born in Brazil.  Felipe's mother came into the class, and shared with us another side of Brazil that we did not know about.  It is a truly beautiful country, with tropical rainforests, fill of exotic animals.  Crystal clear rivers, where you can snorkel and swim. Large tracts of open land which seem to reach to the sky.  We even got to see a waterfall and river on the farm where Felipe lived when he was a little boy.

The children were very excited to learn about "Carnival" time. This is celebrated every year, with dancing, music, parades and exotic, costumes.  It is a very exciting time in a vibrant exciting country.  We decided to  make our own carnival masks, and share them with you.  We hope you like them
