Highlanders come to Wakari

Anna Ollerenshaw —

The Highlanders came to Wakari School to spend some time with the Year 6's.

We had a huge surprise when we saw the Highlanders throwing balls into the air and catching them on the top field. Our first activity was a throwing game where we were in 4 teams and we practiced throwing the ball to one another. After that we played octopus with rips. Then we played a few games of rippa rugby. My team won. It was amazing.

On Friday the 13th of March the Highlanders came and taught us some rippa rugby skills. We played a passing game first then got in to small games of rippa. We got autographs and pictures afterwards. We now have rippa gear especially for Wakari School. They gave us balls, rips and belts. It was loads of fun and much appreciated. Every year 6 had an incredible time.

On Friday 13th the Highlanders came to school to teach the year 6s rippa rugby. The Highlanders taught us a passing game then we had a few little games. Then we all put our belt and rips in piles and then we got signatures from the highlanders and photos with them.  We all really really appreciate all the skills, thank you. By Keira
