Susie Bates Visits Wakari

Senior Syndicate —

The White Ferns Captain visited Wakari School recently.

Yesterday we were so fortunate to meet Susie Bates. She is a famous NZ Cricketer for the White Ferns (she is the captain). She has also played basketball for NZ as well. She said that the most important things were; friendship, respect, and excellence when playing sports. She also said to never give up on your dreams, and to try new sports so you can see what sport you like the best, or you are the best at. Charlie, Zach, Iziah and Mariah had a game of 'knock out' against her. We really enjoyed her company and learnt lots from her.

On Wednesday, Suzie Bates came to Wakari School and talked to the Seniors about her experiences of cricket and basketball.

She got into cricket by playing cricket in her backyard with her brothers and little sister. She told us that she got three silver medals. Corey, Alyssa and Adam asked very good questions and they received either a cap, top or singlet. Charlie, Zach, Mariah and Iziah challenged Suzie for a game of knock-out. At the end of the game the children received either shorts or a singlet.
