Children's Literacy Quiz

Caroline Brown —

A group of keen readers went and represented Wakari at a Literacy Quiz recently. It was full of quirky questions that tested their literacy knowledge very thoroughly.

The Literacy Quiz

The literacy quiz was held at DNI where we were going up against Year 7s, 8s and other Year 6s and 5s. The 4 of us (Sam,Jasmine,Omea and Kaylea) had to answer questions about books and the authors. The subjects were plants, teacher, time,  sheep, teenagers, witches, pot-luck, statues, prisons & prisoners.

After round three the man told us that this year's World Final would be in Auckland and that you would get to visit the Hobbiton set, go to a farm to round up sheep, see the dock of the Buckleberry Ferry, have a big dinner with many great authors and that the theme was Middle Earth. We really enjoyed our day and we hope to do it again. This year the team that came first was Columba 1 and Wakari came 20th. We came 5th in Year 5 and 6 division.
