Term 3 starts with a blast

Chris Smith —

Thanks to all for your support around our School Cross Country that was held yesterday. A neat afternoon for whanau and tamariki.

Glorious sunshine and a light breeze meant some excellent running conditions for our pupils to take part in our annual cross country. Lots of highlights and memories made. To me, it is the efforts of all of the runners to give it a crack and do as well individually as they are able. We will now take a strong contingent of athletes to Bishopcourt next Wednesday afternoon.

Thanks to those who have put their names forward for our Board of Trustees. Voting papers will be sent to letterboxes over the coming weeks. Please ensure your addresses are up to date with the office.

The deluge of rain across the holiday period and the first week of school has been challenging for many. This includes our contractors building the lift shaft. They continue to make steady progress on the Administration block but are now, understandably, behind in the external construction component. With the forecast looking grim again teachers have been taking advantage of the sun and getting the children active outside.

The DCC has been in consulting our pupils about some possible additions to the Mayfield Avenue playground that sits beside our pool. This is exciting for everyone and looks like we will be getting a modular pump track similar to the one currently at the Dinosaur Park, as well as another climbing apparatus. This project will take the best part of a year. Our own small addition to fill the void that Room 16 used to sit in should be underway next week.

Parking habits by the few continue to frustrate the many.  Child safety is compromised when you continue to park on broken yellow lines around the school.

As always if I can be of any assistance do pop in to see me.

Nga mihi,

Chris
