Tahu from the Orokanui Ecosanctuary

Anna Ollerenshaw —

Tahu came to share her knowledge of NZ native birds and migration with the Senior Hub.

When Tahu came to teach us about the migration of birds we played a few games. One was about the trees, birds and people who cut down some trees. I was a tree and Mrs Fitzgerald dressed up in a kiwi costume, it was very funny. We watched a video that showed us about migration. I really enjoyed having Tahu visit us at Wakari School. By Georgia

When Tahu came to visit we learnt about the birds and migration. My favourite part was when we all got to be something like a moa, tree, early explorers, one kiwi and lots of predators. We also learnt how to talk to fantails first, you put your had into a fist and rub it on your mouth, it makes a funny noise. I hope Tahu can come and visit again. By Milly

When Tahu came to my class we talked about the birds and the birds migration to Aotearoa and to other places in the world. We talked about the forest in New Zealand and how the kiwi lost its wings. We also learnt about the wildlife eco-sanctuary. My favourite thing about Tahu is she is really funny. The best part about Tahu's session was the games we played. Thank you Tahu for coming to Wakari School and for telling us all about birds and migration. By Nicola
