Waste  Free  Wednesdays

Cathy Logie —

July 6th will be our first Waste Free Wednesday. The Enviroschools group have been busy getting prepared.

Each day our school produces heaps of rubbish. Our mission is to reduce the amount of rubbish created that eventually piles up at the landfill.

Did you know that it takes 25 years for Glad Wrap to break down and 450 years for a plastic water bottle!

The Enviroschools group have been talking to their classes about ways of reducing waste in their lunch boxes. They have suggested using reusable containers instead of Glad Wrap or plastic bags. The group have been making sandwich wraps out of fabric. These can be washed and reused.

Each Wednesday, the Enviroschools group will be giving out tickets to children who show that they are making an effort to make their lunch ,waste free. The tickets will go into a draw to win prizes.

We hope that you will support your child with this venture. It will benefit our school and the planet. Thank you!
