Jumping for JOY in Room 2!

Gemma Matsopoulos —

We have been welcoming the warmer weather and getting active in the junior hub in Room's 1,2 and 3 with the start of our athletic rotations.

For the next few weeks the juniors are participating in athletics rotations for fitness. It has been amazing getting outside with the tamariki in the warmer weather and practising important skills that nourish our Hauora (health and wellbeing).

Students will be taking part in four rotations; long jump, throwing, hurdles and running. Mrs M had so much fun taking Room 2 for the first rotation - long jump.

The tamariki are learning long jump techniques such as:

- Plant and take off from your strongest foot.

- Use your arms to drive you high and forwards into the air.

- Arms go up, then forwards.

- Stretch out legs to land as far away from the take-off point as possible.

- Land feet first, bring your body forward into a crouching position.
