Focus on Collaboration for 2017

Chris Smith —

Thank you for the support you have provided to enable your child(ren) to launch into 2017 on a positive note at School.

The photo heading this article is of the revamped sickbay that a small group from our Home and School transformed over the holiday period. The children love the vibrancy of the room. A big thanks to the Home and School for funding the project and the team responsible for the transformation and of course our school community for supporting the Home and School with its fundraising activities.

As I write this article 55 children and 25 adults are hurriedly ensuring everything is packed and locked away as they prepare to head to Camp Iona for the week.

2017 has a continued school-wide focus on Co-operative teaching and Collaboration, the Board and staff have identified that some furniture will need to be replaced to provide furniture that encourages these behaviours and this will help both teachers and students.  Staff have been visiting other schools to view Collaborative practice and we are currently working through how this may look at Wakari.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the following teachers to Wakari. Mrs Anna Hartley (Room 12 Senior Syndicate), Mrs Katy Fitzgerald (Room 13 Senior Syndicate) and Mrs Anna Ollerenshaw (Room 15 Middle Syndicate).

As always your support of the School is essential for our Vision of Happy Confident Learners to be realised. If you have concerns and are unsure how best to deal with these visit this link to see our Policy on Concerns and Complaints. Generally, in the first instance, it is always best to speak face to face with your child's teacher.

Regards Chris
