Keeping Ourselves Safe

Heather Bonney —

Constable Ross Greer has been visiting all classrooms at Wakari School to talk about safety.  The safety conscious learners in Room 9 enjoyed welcoming Constable Greer to our classroom, and offered some insightful comments about safety.

When Constable Greer visited Room 9 last week, he led us in a discussion on what we should do if we get lost.

First we talked about our addresses - and why it is important to know our address.  We know that our address includes our street name, our house number, and also our city name.

It is not a nice feeling to get lost, and can be scary so we know that the first thing we need to do is to take a big breath and stay calm.  We discussed who we could ask to help us if we got lost?  We decided that we should ask someone we trust, and a shop assistant would be someone we could trust, and they could help us.

After our brainstorm, we watched a DVD about Constable Bryan and his dog Bobby.  In the video Bobby got lost!  We watched Bobby fix the problem by staying calm and asking a shop assistant to help him.

It is important to know our address, phone number and even a designated meeting place.

If you would like to learn more about how to keep yourself safe, you can look at Constable Bryan and his dog Bobby's website:
