Recently, our Tuakana Kapa Haka group (Middle and Senior Kapa Haka) were invited to perform at the Flagstaff Community Church's Parihaka service. Our tamariki sang beautifully and the audience loved watching their performance!
Our Wakari tamariki in the Tikanga Wakari Kapa Haka group did their school proud with both their beautiful performance and way they conducted themselves at the recent "Remebering Parihaka - Seeking Peace in a Troubled World" service at Flagsttaff Community Church. Many members of the church commented on the beautiful manners of our children. The children were a credit to us all!
At the service our tamariki learned a little about the history of the events at Parihaka. Emily shared some of our school's learning about School Creek and also talked about our school winning the Keep Dunedin Beautiful Best School Project Award - a huge achievement for our school! Reverend Brendon then gifted a book to our school - "Remember that November", which recounts the history of Parihaka.
After the service the tamariki were invited to join in with the craft activities that were available, and even had yummy morning tea!
Tau kē tō mahi tamariki mā! (Awesome work children!)
