This term Kōpū 7 have been learning about how the world began.

We have had a great start to the term learning about the different theories and cultural myths on how the world began.

We have looked at the Big Bang Theory, The Creation Story and the Kai Tahu Creation Story. Along with our Kai Tahu Creation Story the senior school is also in the middle of learning a haka for the Waitaha region.

Facts we have learnt.

1. Volcanoes line the ring of fire.

2. The two Creation stories tell a slightly different tale. The Creation Story tells of Ranginui and Papatūānuku being seperated by Tane, the Kai Tahu Creation Story introduces Takaroa, Papatūānuku's first husband.

3. We learnt about our Mahinga kai, treasures of our land. We learnt how a pōhā and a mokihi are made. 

We are currently learning about Earth, Moon and Stars and spatial awareness.

Our recent multiplication test showed that 75% of our class have now learnt their multiplication up on the initial 30%. We are having heaps of fun celebrating our success and learning a lot of new and exciting information about Aotearoa New Zealand, Our Place.
