Update from the Board
The last board meeting focused on two really important areas for the ongoing governance of the school - the upcoming board elections and the strategy refresh as we head into 2026.
The composition of the Board and involvement of our parent community as Board members helps shape the school and shape the education of our children. We have been lucky to be served by a high quality board with a diverse array of skills. That said we are always looking to add new talent to the Board and will be losing three long serving members later in the year; previous presiding member Brendan Hearle, Mitchell Campbell and teacher representative Karina Sharpe.
We are fortunate that a number of existing board members will be putting themselves forward for re election which helps with continuity and the effectiveness of the Board. This includes Stephanie Welch, who oversees our finances, Tom Syben who heads our Heath and Safety Committee and Melissa McFarlane who brings her legal skills to the Board. We have also been lucky to have had Fiona Moir and Adam Dorsett as observers to recent meetings, where they have both made useful contributions, and who will be putting themselves forward in the elections. I will also be standing for re election.
We would, of course, welcome interest from any of you. If you want more information on this please reach out to Rob or myself.
The other focus for the Board meeting was our strategic plan for the next three years. The strategic planning process is central to determining the direction of our school and where we focus our energy. Rob is implementing a new process for strategic planning this year. This involves wrapping the typical three year plan into a longer term vision for the school. More will be shared on this in the coming weeks and months. There will be plenty of opportunities for parents and other stakeholders to have their say and make the contribution to the direction of the school.
I hope you had a restful holiday and are energized for the winter term.
