On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 24th, the 2022 Cantamath teams competition was held at the Horncastle Arena.

This was the first time in a couple of years that the Cantamaths teams competition has been able to go ahead. Representing our school in the Year 8 team category we had Nick, Kathryn, Hannah and Lilly. 

Although the children had been practising mathematical problem solving all term, the setting was a new experience and, with close to 100 school teams competing from all around Christchurch, it proved to be nerve wracking, loud and very exciting. As spectators, it was certainly a lot of fun to watch. 

The four students said that they thoroughly enjoyed this unique experience, working extremely well as a team, and they managed to achieve a score in the middle band of results. We look forward to having Cantamath back on our annual calendar.
