Winter Illness and Covid - Reminders

Rob Naysmith —

With winter fast approaching and Covid still circulating in the community, we wanted to remind you of the Ministry of Health guidelines, and our expectations, to ensure the wellness of everyone in our Weedons School community.

Covid: If you have a Covid case in your household, your children can still attend school, if well, and after returning a negative RAT before arriving each day. We understand that RAT testing younger children is not an easy process but please do the best you can. If your child contracts Covid they will need to isolate for seven days. Please let the office know if you have a household case as we can then monitor your child closely while at school or if your child contracts Covid.

General illness: If your child shows any cold or flu symptoms or is unwell, please keep them at home. We understand that children getting over a cold can still have a cough etc and are OK to return. Please use your judgement and take a cautious approach. Children need to stay home for 48 hours after their final episode following a stomach bug, this is really important as this type of illness can spread through a classroom quickly.

Let’s work together to make this winter a safe and healthy one for us all.
