Harakeke's first Top Performer for 2023 is an enthusiastic young man who has had an excellent start to the year - well done Jay!

This is Jay's second year in the Harakeke classroom and from day one he has demonstrated not only commendable role modelling of all the expected behaviours but also much appreciated leadership.

From the first day, Jay has volunteered for extra responsibilities where he has proved himself to be uttterly reliable. Knowing all the expectations and systems that Harakeke has, Jay has also taken on a vital role of leading by example and kindly helping others whenever it has been needed. 

Jay's confidence has reached new heights and it is clear that he wants to make the most of every opportunity to continue to challenge himself in all aspects of school life. Academically, Jay is a high achiever who is keen to learn. He loves maths and consistently applies himself with persistence and determination (leading to some awesome results already) while his enjoyment of reading has always been evident. This, of course, leads in turn to some great writing.

With his love of cricket in the summer and rugby in the winter, Jay is also a keen sports person. Whenever he is participating in any sports event at school, he demonstrates fair play at all times and is consistently respectful towards others. 

Everything Jay does reflects our Weedons Way values and I look forward to watching him continue to shine.
