Top Performer - Kowhai - Room 3

Weedons School Office —

The first thing I said to this young man when he came into the classroom at the start of 2022 was - Jonny, be good. And guess what? He has been great (for the most part). During Term 3, Jonny has really come into his own. His confidence in his own abilities is sky high.

Jonny has been working on his comprehension and accuracy during reading time. He has made pleasing progress within these two areas and he specifically loves to discuss new and interesting vocabulary within a small group.
Jonny is an excellent speller, an area he has been focusing on this year. This spelling ability is transferred into his everyday writing, making his work easy to read and understand. What about his writing? Fantastic. Jonny has been able to create well-thought-out, descriptive pieces of writing about a variety of topics, most recently he described a snowy mountain scene full of skiers (a place he feels at home). For Jonny, one of his strengths is his Mathematics. He is able to quickly recall most basic facts and is a tough competitor when it comes to daily basic facts challenges in class. Jonny can use varying methods to solve complicated mathematical problems and will happily share his knowledge with others who need help. During PE, Jonny has shown he is a natural athlete. He has excellent ball-handling skills and can throw a tennis ball like a whip, showing signs of a good cricketer! Well done, Jonny. You are a Top Performer. Keep it up!
