Whakanui Ahurea Cultural Festival

Kathy Roy —

On Thursday 3 August, Wellington College was delighted to host the eight schools in our Kāhui Ako for the Whakanui Ahurea Cultural Festival.

This is the second year the festival has run and staff, students, and parents were blown away at how the groups have grown in both size and confidence since last year's festival. Each primary school brought their Kapa Haka Group, and the WC and WGC Pacific Performance Groups, the WC Lion Dance Group, the WGC Asian Performance Group, and Te Haeata Awatea (our WC and WGC Combined Kapa Haka Group) performed.

It was a tremendous day and our thanks goes to the Kāhui Ako ASL Team for their organisation of the event, the kaiako, tutors and parents who prepared our ako for the day, and to our students for their passion and heart on the day. We can't wait for next year!
