Te Haeata Awatea performs at Kapa Haka regionals
Nikki Corbishley, Deputy Principal - June 22, 2023
After months of hard mahi, intense training, and dedication to kapa haka, our combined Wellington College and Wellington Girls' College group, Te Haeata Awatea, perfomed brilliantly on the big stage.
On Friday 23rd June, Te Whakataetae Kapahaka Tuarua o te Whanganui-a-Tara ki Ōtaki was held at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua. There was a line up of 11 schools from around the Wellington region. We had 16 students from WC perform, and 21 students from WGC, and the weeks of practice paid off, with a performance the kaihaka should be very proud of.
Congratulations to all the schools who performed, and to Kura Māori o Porirua for placing first in the competition.
