Scholarship Success

Lucinda Lendrum —

Congratulations to our students on their outstanding success in a huge range of subjects in the NZ Scholarship exams! Your hard work, dedication, and pursuit of excellence have truly paid off. We are incredibly proud of you all.

Wellington College students gained an impressive 98 Scholarships, including 6 at Outstanding level. Outstanding Scholarships are awarded to only the top 3% of candidates. 38 of the Scholarships were awarded to students in Years 10 - 12.

Our 2024 Dux, Ethan Gee (pictured), received a phenomenal 7 Scholarships, including one at Outstanding Level. Ethan also was the top national scholar in Agriculture & Horticulture, and received an Outstanding Scholar Award. This places him in the top 65 of all candidates nationwide.

Neil Tonpay, Arham Jain, and Ora Mead each received a remarkable 4 scholarships as Year 12 students, along with Benji Mason who received two as Year 10 student, one at Outstanding level.

New Zealand Scholarship is a prestigious qualification that recognizes the highest academic achievement in secondary school. It is awarded to top-performing students, challenging them with complex, high-level assessments that require deep understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Scholarships come with financial awards to support tertiary study, making them a significant accomplishment.

A huge thank you also to the teachers and whānau who support students on this very demanding journey. Congratulations to all!
