There were so many amazing performances that will be acknowledged later on but here are the top performers in each grade for WC:

Under 14
The top points scorers in the Under 14 grade were Toby Brook (2nd in 400m and 1st 800m) and Isaac Thompson (1st in 1500m and 2nd in 3000m).

Under 15
Tom Hughson was the top points scorer in the Under 15 grade and the WC team overall winning the 100m, 200m and 400m for the second year in a row. Tom also broke the WC U15 100m record which was set in 1995 with a time of 11.50s. The only other record broken on the day was by Alex Macbeth who ran the 800m in 1:59.90 to break the McEvedy U15 record.

Under 16
Logan Hopfler won the Under 16 800m and 1500m to make him the top points scorer in his grade.

Open
In the Open grade it was magical to have both Co-captains take out 1st and 2nd place in the coveted 100m/200m double. Rauri Meo just pipped Leo Yousuf in both races to take top points scorer for WC in the grade. However it could have been either one on the day. They were also both members of the victorious Open 4x100m relay team to finish off the day. Just behind Rauri in the points was Joe Martin (1st in 800m and 1500m) and Regan Kwan (1st in Long and Triple Jumps). Both of these athletes are only Year 12 so will be back next year which is exciting.

It was a such great day and the coaches are so proud of the team for handling the pressure that comes along with trying to win 9 in a row. Many of the athletes will be competing at the College Sport Wellington Regional Champs in a couple weeks’ time and we wish them all the best.
