Kia ora koutou e ngā mātua, e ngā whānau, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Konichiwa!

We hope you had an enjoyable Show Weekend with the extra day on Monday and all those who entered into any A and P events, achieved success and had FUN!

With only 3 weeks to go after this week, there are still some great learning opportunities for our learners still to come. We know our year 4 - 6 kids are excited about going on camps to Woodend and Wainui and our intermediate learners are off on an overnight tramp to Woolshed Creek next week.  Many thanks to our community who are supporting teachers making these learning opportunities safe and a success for everyone.

We have had an exciting and rewarding week this week with Teachers Only Day, West Melton’s Got Talent, Community thank you wine and cheese evening, Tough Kid competition, our New Entrant parent presentation and our final Celebration of Learning at school for this year.

We know we have amazing and talented learners and that was evident at ‘West Melton’s Got Talent’ held on Tuesday. Our Student Exec did a superb job of bringing together 21 varied performances ranging from bagpipes to gymnastics.

This week was another opportunity to build relationships and connections with our community specifically thanking them all for their varied levels of support throughout the year enabling teachers to provide safe, engaging and varied learning opportunities for our children. It was a relaxed and informal opportunity for our community, staff and Board members to interact, meet new people and for us to acknowledge this valued and appreciated support.  Another very successful evening.

We met current and prospective parents on Thursday morning where we had an opportunity to share our successes and promote our New Entrant year group. Whilst we were meeting prospective community members their children were being cared for and played with by our intermediate learners inducting them into the school environment and building relationships before they start their school journey. Many thanks to our intermediate children. You are a credit to our school!

Thank you for your understanding with the recent teacher strike action. Your support is much appreciated.

Merry Christmas

As newsletters are written every three weeks, this will be the last comprehensive newsletter for the year. There will a Board of Trustees newsletter in the final week and we will continue to post on the school facebook page.

On behalf of the staff, thank you all for your ongoing support, it is appreciated. We look forward to an exciting and action packed 2019! Take it easy over the next few weeks, practice Mindfulness (if you’re not sure what to do, I know your children will be able to help you here!) and be grateful for what you have! It can be rather hectic and stressful as Christmas approaches!!

Our last school day is Tuesday 18 December finishing at 12pm. Buses will depart school at 12.10pm.
