Kapa Haka, Cultural Festival & Uniform Amnesty

Carolyn Sutherland —

Notices have been sent home with information for the upcoming Christchurch Primary Schools Cultural Festival, please return the permission slip as soon as possible. Our performance is on Friday 7th September between 6.25pm-9pm (apologies for the misleading typo in the notice - it will finish at 9pm). If you have not already purchased tickets through the school you will need to purchase these from Ticketek.

Kia ora koutou

Kapa haka uniform amnesty - please return any ‘lost’ uniforms from previous performances that may be lingering at your home - we would greatly appreciate their anonymous return!

Already this year our kapa haka group have performed at our mihi whakatau at the beginning of each term, and welcomed several visiting groups onto our school site; including Longworth Education, and Professor Toby Greany from the Institute of Education in London. There are several other performance opportunities on the cards for later dates as well!

We have been offered an amazing opportunity through Education Perfect (developers of online learning programmes) to host a free trial of their "Getting Started in Māori" programme. “Each unit contains vocabulary questions, comprehension questions, writing and speaking activities, with the units designed to be broken up into scaffolded blocks so that they are appropriate for young students learning a language.” If you’re interested in your child being signed up to access this unique opportunity please contact Ms Sutherland or your child’s pod teacher.
