Children and Sleep Workshop

Tracey Riley —

Children and Sleep Workshop for parents

Ursula McCulloch - Clinical psychologist, School Based Mental Health Team

We explore what resilience is and recap on how stress affects the brain. We look into strategies to help children develop their resilience in order to manage better when faced with challenges. This involves developing a positive view of themselves and confidence in their strengths and abilities, the capacity to manage strong feelings and impulses, facilitating communication with our children, and the capacity to make realistic plans and take steps to carry them out - problem solving.

'Children & Sleep' workshop is on

Date: Thursday 13 September

Time: 6.30pm

Location: Kowhai, places will be limited

We are excited to offer a workshop for parents called “Children and Sleep”. This workshop will cover how poor sleep affects the brain and behaviour, a brief overview of different types of sleep disturbances and things that affect children’s sleep, and most importantly, tips to manage settling children to sleep and to sleep better. It will be discussion based, and there will be opportunity for parents to ask questions and talk about strategies.

It will be facilitated by Ursula McCulloch, a clinical psychologist with many years of experience in working with children, now based with the School Based Mental Health Team.
