Students in Te Pa Harakeke have been learning how to use a core board to communicate. Each Monday we have enjoyed a visit from Ruth (and one of her many animals) who works as a speech language therapist at Waitaha base school.

Animals have been our core board 'theme' to help us learn how to use the core board. Core boards are a form of communication some learners can use to support their receptive and expressive communication. Every week we have learnt a focus word and practised finding it on the core board and using that word in a sentence.
