Creating a HERO account - Hero is our learner's student management system. It is used to record learner's progress, absentees, communicate with parents and financial information. Hero enables you to keep up-to-date with all school communication through a modern computer browser. Note, Internet Explorer is not supported. Please click on the following link to set up your child's hero account:

Our School Day - The studios open at 8.30am after the morning music. If you require before or after school care Busy Bumbles are on site and you can find information regarding this in the school office or visit their website https://www.busybumbles.co.nz/  Children are not to be on site before 8:30am and must wait at the school entrance until the music plays.

The times are as follows:

Year 1 - 4                                   Year 5 - 8

8.55-10.50 Learning                 8.55 - 11.00 Learning

10.50 -11.10 Play                    11.00 - 11.10 Eat

11.10 - 11.20 Eat                    11.10 - 11.30 Play

11.20 - 12.30 Learning            11.30 - 12.55 Learning

12.30 - 1.10 Play                     12.55 - 1.10 Eat

1.10 - 1.25 Eat                         1.10 - 1.50 Play

1.25 - 3.00 Learning                 1.50 - 3.00 Learning

This means our juniors will implement the play, eat, learn philosophy.

Absentees - If your child is sick, the best way to notify the school is to use the school HERO app (see details below) or you can email the office at office@westrolleston.school.nz Alternatively you can ring 03 595 0952 and leave a message on the answering machine.

Late to School - If your child is late to school or away for any reason during the day please come to the office and let us know, or send him or her to the office before they go to the learning studio to obtain a Late Pass. This is important for Health and Safety Reasons

Assembly - Assembly is 3 weekly on a Friday at 9:15am. This is alternative weeks for Year 1-4 Juniors and then Year 5-8 Seniors and then no assembly on week 3 (please see website calendar or Newsletters for dates https://www.westrolleston.school.nz/news/calendar ) These assemblies are to celebrate children’s learning. These will be hosted by the learners with each studio taking a turn. 

Community updates - Are sent out regularly though HERO, If you are not receiving any emails please first check your spam folder and then notify us so we can sort any issues there may be.

Financial Account Information on Hero - You can easily check out your school account details in HERO. Log into your child's account and at the top of the page clink on the dollar icon and you will be able to see your statement. Please email accounts at accounts@westrolleston.school.nz if you have any queries in regards to your school account. We are a cashless office and all payments should be made into the school bank account as follows School Bank account details - 12-3153-0021818-00

Payments can be made - In full, by regular DD payments throughout the year, as the activities occur, or you can deposit a lump sum and this will be allocated to activities during the year. 

Dental - The dental van visits school once or twice a year. If you have any concerns please call the clinic on 0800 846 983 to arrange an appointment.

Itinerant Music Lessons - If your child is in Year 3 to 8 and you would like to register for private music lessons based at school please and contact Jacqueline via www.singingstarsnz.com or www.Facebook.com/rollestonsinging if you would like to book lessons.

Medications - If your child requires medication to be taken during the school day, can you please come and complete a medicine authority form which are located at the office or attached to this article. Please do not send medicine to school with your child - it must be administered by a member of staff and kept in the Health room.  

Ordered Lunch - Ezlunch are offering 3 days of an ordered lunch. Please order through Kindo.

  • Friday - Inspired Lunches

High vis safety vests or High vis bag covers - Are a compulsory part of the school uniform, these must be worn to and from school, including when you child travels by car. There are various suppliers, Qizzle (our stationary supplier), Officemax, Safety Vests.co.nz, The Warehouse.

School PTA/GROW - If you would like to find out more about our PTA called GROW, please feel free to come along to a committee meeting held once a month or keep up to date with what is going on the GROW West Rolleston facebook page. It's a great way to meet members of our school community. If you need to contact GROW you can email them; growwrps@gmail.com

GROW Whare T-Shirts - You can order a West Rolleston Whare T-Shirt through Kindo http://bit.ly/KindoWestRolleston  or you can just wear a normal T-Shirt in your Whare colour.  T-Shirts are not compulsary on Whare Days and children can just wear their uniform.  To find out when the Whare days are, check out the school calendar using the link above.

School Uniform - Our uniform is consistent with the colours of our logo – emerald green and black – and it can be worn all year round as opposed to having a summer and winter one. It is compulsory to wear our school uniform which can be purchased on-line at:

www.mainlanduniforms.co.nz or at their store 511 Wairakei Rd.

Please also ensure all learners wear plain black socks and plain black shoes. Black thermal tops underneath polo shirts are also permitted.
