As an extension of our curriculum, we are transforming our Gymnasium into an ice skating rink. The lessons are developed to give learners from year 1-8 a unique and fun introduction to ice skating. They will be taught the basics of balance, coordination and ice skating. The aim is to have children all skating by the end of the session.

The ice skating will take place in week 9 this term. March the 25th until the 28th.

The cost for the lesson is $8.50 per child. This will be added to your school account. Please pay online as we are a cashless office. The bank account details are: 12-3153-0021818-00, please use your child’s full name as a reference along with the words ‘Ice Skating’.

All children will have to wear a helmet and gloves when skating. They are provided at no charge however children can also bring their own. Helmets are disinfected after each session. It is recommended that

all skaters wear long socks and long pants if possible.

We do require parent help during the junior school sessions. This will be supporting children to put on and take off their skates. Please let your child’s teacher know if you can help. Parent help is also required on Sunday the 24th of March from 6pm- 8pm to put the ice skating rink together. Please email amandaclarkson@westrolleston.school.nz if you are able to help. We need approx 10 people and this event can only go ahead if we have the support of our community. We will also need help to pack it up on Thursday the 28th of March from 3pm -4:30pm so please email if you are able to help.

The ice skating rink is also holding a Disco on Tuesday night for Juniors and Wednesday night for Seniors. User pays and it is open to the public.
