Message from the Principal

Sylvia Fidow —

It was exciting to move down to Level 1 this week as a country. At school we are following the Prime Minister's Golden Rules and encouraging our learners to practise good hygiene skills.

Whilst we have removed the covers from the drinking fountains, we still recommend that children bring their own drinking bottles each day. Thanks for your support during this period. We know that some of our children and parents have new and increased worries or anxieties as a result of the past few months. If you have any concerns or questions regarding schooling, the best course of action is always to contact your child's current teacher please.

With the changes to schooling over these past few months, you will know we have also pushed out our assessment schedule. Check out the picture above to see some of the awesome learning our children have been participating in. Tomorrow you will receive an email from your child's Team Leader with information regarding learning for your child for this term. Please take the time to read this.

Yesterday I received an email from a concerned parent about children not crossing Bethany Rd safely. Apparently children are scootering straight across the road without checking for cars. PLEASE talk with your child about road safety as children can be easily distracted with their friends. Please also discuss sharing pavements and thank you for observing our kiss and drop zones, not using the roundabout by Te Pa Harakeke in the mornings or walking through our staff car-park.

It is exciting that we have our first school assembly tomorrow. All parents and caregivers are welcome. It will also be an ambassador led mufti day tomorrow, raising money for the I am Hope foundation which links nicely with our wellbeing model. Children may wear gumboots as well if they wish. The ambassadors will be collecting coins outside the office before school if anyone can spare a coin.

Finally, we know some of our families jobs and livelihoods have also been affected due to Covid-19. Please do not hesitate to contact me or another staff member if you require some support with school lunches or anything. This process can be managed discreetly and we have the support of the Hope Church and Generation House at hand.

Ngā mihi nui
