Message from the Principal

Sylvia Fidow —

It has been lovely seeing parents back on site this week [observing our Alert Level 2 safety measures] for our learner conferences. The teachers were commenting on the fact they have not seen some parents since Term One, so it has been great to re-connect.

We hope you have found the conference time valuable and that you have a good understanding of your child's learning journey: their progress and next steps. This information can be viewed anytime in our learner management system: Hero. We had a 90% attendance rate for our learning conferences. We have been overwhelmed with the response to the scholastic book fair from our families too. Thank you for this. Big thanks also to Mrs Amanda Clarkson and Carmen Walcott-Wood who have organised and run this so well.

Yesterday our Jump Jam Teams competed on-line in the Jump Jam Competition which was cancelled due to Alert Levels. They were awesome! Special thanks to the coaches Mrs Ollivia Nancekivell, Helen Curtin, Miss Leigh Thrupp, Mrs Kathy McDonald, Miss Emma Bennett, Miss Estelle Austin and Miss Holly Miller. They all had a well deserved muffin afterwards!

Our Board of Trustees are reviewing our Safe Travel Management Plan, (see attached doc). We have been discussing options available to support the safe crossing of different roads and the recommended routes for learners to and from school. We would welcome your contribution so please fill out this survey [you may need to copy the link in your web browser]: Safe Travel Management 2020

Please see the article update on property refurbishments in this newsletter. We will be moving studios at the end of next week.

Finally welcome to Mr James Hunt, a teacher from England who is supporting learning across the senior school until the end of the year.

Ngā mihi nui
