Message from the Principal

Sylvia Fidow —

This week we have either started or planned to start many extra-curricula opportunities for our learners. The photo above shows some keen athletes from Y2-4 who attended a basketball training at 8am this morning with Mr Fraser Malins, Annette Hynes [school mum] and Amy Price [school mum]!

We also had 133 learners attend the first kapahaka session, 34 learners put their name down for Monday after school chess club with Lee Scheepers [school mum], 30 learners participate in Mandarin classes, the largest number of learners attend waiata ever and next week we will begin Pasifika group. There will be information soon on senior code club, too. As the numbers are so high we are having to re-consider how we organise and run everything so please ensure you are keeping up to date with reading all of the hail notices and studio updates.

We are very fortunate that the adults who run these groups often give up their time voluntarily, so if you could also volunteer anytime we would be very grateful. On-going participation in the groups means that the children must show a commitment to attend each session,  and demonstrate all of our kowhai rules!

Please also have a look at the information in this newsletter regarding our up and coming goal setting conferences. You will need to log in to the school interviews website to book your conference on Tuesday 4 or Wednesday 5 March.

Finally, due to our increasing school roll we have added a third staff member to our school office.  A warm welcome to Mary Skilton who will be working on a Friday.

Ngā mihi nui
