Whole School Fun Cross-Country Day
On Tuesday 31st March (postponement Wednesday 1st April) we will be having our whole school fun cross country runs held on our back field. This is a popular, fun race whereby runners compete in teams around an obstacle track for a set time and collectively accumulate points for their team.
The children will be participating in their studio groups. Each studio group will be split into teams and given a colour for their team. We will provide the coloured bands so there is no need for families to buy coloured tops.
On the day, the children will need suitable footwear, a drink bottle and a school hat and jacket in case it is cool while they are waiting their turn.
Approximate Times:
Te Ara Māia Fun Cross Country - 9:30am (Year 8s then Year 7s)
Te Ara Whānui Fun Cross Country 10:15am (Year 6s then Year 5s)
Te Ara Whānake Fun Cross Country 11:30am (Year 4s then Year 3s)
Te Ara Tupu Fun Cross Country 12:10 (Year 2/3s then Year 1s)
Te Kete Kakano Fun Cross Country 1:40pm (Year 1s then Year 0s)
These times may vary, particularly if the weather is not good and we need to get through events faster.
Please feel free to come and support our runners. We look forward to seeing you there!
Competitive Cross- Country / Zones Trials
We will be having a competitive cross-country in which Year 5-8 runners will be competing to qualify for the Selwyn Central Zones event. This event/trial will be held on Tuesday 28th April (first day of term 2). This run will be held on the school back field at lunch time 12:45pm, it will be a 3km run. Mr Malins will be taking entries for this at the end of Term 1. The school holidays will be a great time to train for this.
We will also invite any Year 0-4s who are interested in a competitive cross country, out to the field to watch the seniors and compete in their own run on this day too.
