Message from the principal

Sylvia Fidow —

Following on from the success of road safety week Mrs Leona Whittington and Sarah Booth launched a walking school bus from the wool-shed park this week.

It was great to see the children walking safely to school in their safety vests. They are hoping to run the bus every Friday and it would be great to have other people organise the other days. We are very pleased also with how well the kiss and go/collect parks are being used - thank you for your support with this.

Well done to Chelsea McAuley and GROW for organising a really successful ladies' night on Friday evening. It was a great way for mums, nanas, aunties and friends to connect. The dinner was lovely and the games were lots of fun, particularly Mingo (musical version of bingo).

This week it has been great to see the numbers of learners using the library well at morning tea and lunchtime - reading quietly, drawing, playing cards and playing chess. Good luck to our first ever chess players in their tournament at Avonhead School tomorrow. This group of keen children across the school are taught by one of our Mums - Lee Scheepers - after school on a Monday. We love your passion for teaching our children new skills.

We are starting to get organised for 2019. Please let us know if your child is not returning or if you have another child to enrol:)

Finally, welcome back to our returning staff members Mrs Tess Rodgers and Mrs Lauren Hill teaching in Te Ara Whanake. Please look out for these new teachers.

ngā mihi

Sylvia
