Message from the Deputy Principals

Amanda Clarkson —

Kia ora and welcome back to term 3,

We hope you have had a restful break and are ready for an action packed term. A warm welcome to our 13 new learners and their families along with two second year student teachers. Some of the exciting things we have planned this term are; book week (for more information please see the article in the newsletter), drumming and dance interactive performance, school photos, dog safety, talent show, cultural festival, ski trip for Years 5-8’s and that is just to name a few.

Over the holidays we have had some more playground equipment installed for our learners and this has been extremely popular for all ages. Thank you to GROW for this.

Last term we starting using the Kathleen Liberty model of Play, Eat, Learn and found this to be very successful. The children are a lot more focused in the afternoons. The only thing we ask is that your child has plenty to eat as we have found they are eating a lot more rather than wanting to race away to play. We will be continuing to use this model for the remainder of the year but we have made slight adjustments to the times. See below:

Our school day will look like this:

8:55am - 9:50am - Learning Block
9:50am - 10:05am - Read and Feed and Fitness
10:05am - 11am - Learning Block
11am - 11:20am -Play
11:20am - 11:30am - Eat inside
11:30am - 12:35pm - Learning Block
12:35pm - 1:15pm - Play
1:15pm - 1:30pm - Eat inside
1:30pm - 3pm - Learning Block

Thank you to all the parents who have already booked in their learner led conference for week 3. If you haven't done this already please go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and use the code edrdj to make a booking. The conferences are Tuesday the 6th of August and Wednesday the 7th of August.

We would like to wish Ms Fidow’s son Ezra all the best for the World Futsal Championship that started yesterday in Orlando, Florida. We are all cheering for you back home.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support and please do not hesitate to email your child’s whanau group teacher or one of us if you have any questions or concerns.

Many thanks

Amanda Clarkson and Ben Galletly
