Message from the Principal

Sylvia Fidow —

We have been busy with our final week of swimming and our last groups attending the exciting Tūranga Trip and most children are coping so well with these adventures.

We have all noticed how incredibly tired the children are. We are encouraging them to stay hydrated, to keep living the kowhai rules and if they could get to bed early each night that would be most appreciated. The final two weeks of school will be finishing off teaching and learning programmes and completing some art work based around celebrations and Christmas. Children's artwork and school books may start coming home from the end of Week 8 which is next week.

Thank you for your on-going support with our safe travel management plan. I have noticed an increase in the numbers of children wearing safety vests to school.  There are also less reports of drivers exiting from our enter only drive-way on Burnham School Rd. I am pleased with how everyone has responded to our new scooter area and are using the stands appropriately. This includes our new skateboard stand. The BoT have  improved our security in this area to ensure our cameras cover the whole space as well. Please continue to discuss safe travel with your children and ask them to share pathways and look out for each other.

I am pleased to report that we had some amazing placings in the National MADE digi awards in Tauranga last week. I will be announcing these at our assembly next Friday on the 6th December and this includes some very cool prizes. Mr Ben Galletly will also be giving out awards to our top recipients in the International Australasian Competitions.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our GROW Christmas Raffle. We appreciate your support. This could not have happened without lots of effort from Joe Sefton and Nicole Richards from GROW who co-ordinated all of the gifts and ticket distribution, and to all the parents who spent their own time selling additional tickets at New World and the Warehouse - thank you.

Finally, thanks to the 106 responses we have had for our annual survey. This helps us inform our strategic planning for the future. This will close tomorrow.
