Message from the Principal
It has been an amazing week for our foundation school with our inaugural participation in the Cultural Festival. Thank you so much for the positive comments we have received about how fabulous our learners were.
From the amazing designs of our wearable arts models through to the singing and dancing of our kapahaka and pasifika performers we are all so very proud. Thanks to GROW and our BoT for our lovely new kapahaka uniforms designed by Tegan McMurdo-Dawson. These looked amazing. Big thanks also to Miss Laura Finn who co-ordinated everything. Laura now looks forward to finalising the performance of our waiata group in the Kids for Kids concert next week at Horncastle Arena.
We were also really proud of our Y5-8 basketball teams who reached the finals with our Y7/8 team narrowly losing and our Y5/6 team coming out on top - both games against Clearview and both played in good spirits.
Yesterday we also had a lovely wee recital concert for all of our learners playing an instrument at school with Mrs Delwyn McKenzie - great to see how proud all of the parents were.
From my perspective I believe we have provided a diverse range of opportunities for our learners in a short amount of time and we are grateful to the parents who support all of these events as well. We couldn't do it without you.
Just a final reminder that it is a staff only day tomorrow and school is CLOSED. It is a privilege to be able to take all of our staff to visit schools that Ben, Amanda and I worked closely with and visited in our set up phase in Auckland. Thank you to the BoT for providing this wonderful learning opportunity as we meet with teams who are a couple of years ahead of us in their foundation journey, and plan for our future school-wide programmes.
Ngā mihi
Sylvia
