Message from the Principal

Sylvia Fidow —

I am always so impressed with the extra effort many of our learners make with the work they are doing in their studios, or with their passion projects or with their home learning. In this particular picture Divashna [left side] had continued her technology learning at home.

An amazing effort was had at the weekend too with our jump jam teams who all performed at the Aurora Performing Arts Centre. All of the children were fantastic and represented themselves and our school beautifully. It was great to be able to provide this additional opportunity for them. Thank you to all of the parents who supported their children and to our amazing teachers and coaches - Miss Rachel Pickering, Miss Katie Talbot, Miss Madeleine Walker, Miss Leigh Thrupp, Mrs Ollivia Nancekivell, Miss Nicole Davidson , Miss Claudia Copeland, Leanne Croucher and Helen Curtin.

Congratulations to Mrs Megan Murray who has won an Across School Teacher's Role within our Kāhui Ako. Megan will lead the portfolio of emerging leaders across our schools and early childhood centres. Megan will be released two days per week to complete this work. Rebecca Lambert will teach in Te Ara Maia on these days. This has meant we have split the Year 5-8 Team into two teams. Megan will now co-lead the Year 7/8 Team with Rebecca. Congrats also to Mr Pete Northmore who will lead the Year 5/6 Team.

Tomorrow is our child cancer fundraiser mufti day.  Coincidentally we have also filled Wish Jar #2 as part of our positive behaviour plan and this means the children can bring a soft toy to school. I have had numerous children ask me if their soft toy could have some hard parts to it like a beak or that their doll's head is soft but the stomach is hard. That is fine - I will trust your judgement to send your child along with an appropriate toy.

Ngā mihi nui
