Dangerous Decibels in Te Ara Māia

Katie Talbot —

We had a visit from Pauline from the Hearing Institute to share with us some knowledge about dangerous decibels...

In Te Ara Māia we have been learning about loud and dangerous noises and the damage that they can do to our hearing.

We have learnt all about the different parts of our ears including our Pinna, Cochlear, hair follicles and Eardrum.

Sound has power and loud sounds can be damaging.

We loved doing some experiments with ping pong balls and tuning forks and seeing how sound travels through vibration.

Some things that you can do to protect your hearing include; turning down noise, walking away, and using protection for your ears.
